This past weekend I competed in the Miramont Monster Comp in Fort Collins, CO.  I rarely make it up to the Fort despite the fact that it’s only an hour away.  It was nice to meet up with some friends from up there, and check out the local climbing scene.  Paul Dusatko managed to throw a wonderful local competition considering the high profile athletes that were attending in full force.  The problems were very well set, the new wall is amazing, and the general vibe was energetic and motivating.  I’ve been in a bit of a slump lately and the competition was just the push I needed to re-kindle some motivation.  I qualified for finals in 1st place and managed a 2nd place Overall finish just behind the one and only Daniel Woods.  Alex Puccio and Angie Payne managed 1st and 2nd respectively for the girls.  I was most impressed by the wonderfully psyched community of climbers in the area.  I need to make my way up north more often.  Jon G. drove up to the comp with me, filmed the whole comp, and produced some nice highlight reels for Dead Point Magazine.  Check out the Qualifier Video and the Finals Video.  And don’t miss the comp next year!

Also at deadpointmag.com is a NEW VIDEO that I produced of my brother Giovanni cruising a nice V6 on the California Coast.  The featured boulder is called Fort Rosstafarian and if you head over to My Top 10 lists you can see it currently occupying the #6 slot.  I wrote a nice Blog about the climbing in Northern California a few months ago.  It’s been since March that I’ve visited home, and finishing the edit on this particular video makes me miss the place even more.  It’s safe to say that I will definitely be visiting one last time before heading to SWITZERLAND at the end of this month.  And here’s the details on that:

On September 23rd, I will be leaving Boulder to attend the Nor’easter in Lincoln, New Hampshire.  This is the only event of its kind that I know of, coupling Music, Sports, and Conservation into one festival package and I am excited to be a part of it.  I will be competing in the final UBC competition that is taking place there, and climbing on every bit of real rock that the area has to offer.  The following week, Sept. 27th to be exact, I will be hopping on a flight to Zurich, CH.  My flight back to the USA is scheduled for Nov. 30th.  2 months in Ticino, Switzerland!  Though I have spent lots of time in Europe during my early youth, I have never had the opportunity to climb over there.  I am overwhelmingly excited to say the least.  My travel partner will be Connor Griffith, who is a good friend from High School, and we will be staying with Paul Robinson and his girlfriend Alex Kahn.  It’s going to be a very productive 8 weeks.  I will be shooting a shit ton of videos and photos and I’m very motivated to take my abilities to a new level in both artistic fields.  Inspiration from new experience breeds progression in all ways, shapes, and forms.  My current reality is getting stale and I’m ready mix things up.

Well, that’s it for now.  Off to Upper Chaos for the perfect temps…
