Usually, topping out boulders isn’t even fun unless you’ve flashed them. We all know this. This video analyzes the complex logic behind this truth, and documents the efforts of the world’s king of flashing in his latest onslaught against a brand new boulder. Undoubtedly, after millions of people have watched this video, the flashing trend will begin its rightful reign and send the practice of ‘projecting’ into complete obsolescence. Soon enough, you won’t even get the points for sending the boulder problem unless you flashed. A new 8a.nu will emerge with only one option for ascent-type: flash. Welcome to the future.

pretty funny!
Well, this is kind of sad huh? Carlo doesn’t really give a shit? The why’d ya spend hours filming a video like this? It is unnecessary, rude, immature and down right lame. Not cool at all. If you can’t let all this shit go by now, it must be about Alex. Atleast, that’s what everyone thinks. Any who can blame us. LET IT GO. GROW UP. You’re a strong dude, you don’t need to act hard by downgrading everything, it doesn’t make you look stronger, just makes you look like a douchebag. I hope all our sponsors drop you for this.
First of all, when it comes to writing negative comments on people’s blogs and videos I feel like it is very important to leave your full name. I don’t appreciate and completely disrespect negative comments from unknown sources. If you have an opinion, own it. Second, I find some of these comments completely ridiculous considering the general public’s lack of understanding regarding my relationship to Alex Puccio and Chris Webb-Parsons. I respect both of them as people and for their proven high-level climbing abilities. This video was not created to reflect badly on Chris. I see how it could be interpreted that way, and for that I apologize. I would specifically like to retract the part in the video that claims “Chris was pissed because of the downgrade”, because that is not accurate. Chris was very accepting of my opinion towards his boulder, and I definitely appreciate that. A more correct statement would have been “The community of climbers on 8a.nu got pissed because of the downgrade…” The intro was created in parody of the intro to the American television show “Glee”, which centers around an overwhelming amount of high school drama. We watched a lot of Glee in Switzerland on our rest days… I thought that the “Bella Luna downgrade” topic on 8a.nu was pretty hilarious and I blame the climbing community for bringing so much drama to the situation. In short, the intro is aimed more at making fun of the general climbing public’s creation of irrelevant drama than anything else. I am not a jealous and vengeful person. I am a very happy person and I love my life. Please don’t judge me and my intentions when you have very little knowledge about me as a person. If you would like further rationale as to my intentions and reasoning for this video feel free to send me an e-mail: carlo.denali.traversi@gmail.com. Overall, the response from this video was great and I look forward to creating more like it. Life is too short to be taken too seriously. Assume the best intentions from me, and I’ll do the same for you.

As a professional climber, arent you supposed to be a good ambassador for the sport and the community? Way to make fun of the climbing community that supports you. Hopefully that wont come back to bite you in the ass.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the global climbing community. I’ve participated in many sports, and climbing is by far the most tight knit family of any of them. It’s amazing that any climber can show up at cliffs and boulder fields world wide and find people that share the same passion and pursuits as themselves. And as a member of the community, I see no harm in poking fun at various aspects of this often selfish pursuit. If we can’t laugh at ourselves, then where is the fun?!
That’s all well and good, but this isnt a collaborative “let’s laugh at ourselves and how silly we all are”, type thing. This is just you and your friends laughing at the community that support you for taking an interest in your climbing and exploits. Not a very good public relations schema.
I am sorry, but I have to disagree. That is not what we are doing, and the overwhelmingly positive response from this video seems to support that. I appreciate the opinion, and it is not to be over looked.
Fair enough. To each their own. I respect you as a climber, but this last video, I feel, showed a lack of maturity. The feedback that I’ve been reading on videoclimb.com has not been “overwhelmingly positive”. In fact, I would say it has been very negative.
Life is full of disagreements. The point is not to let them divide us, but rather, to use them as an opportunity to learn and grow as a community.
hey carlo, funny idea & probably hilarious among close buddies on a trip, but I don’t think anyone came across well in it. Seeing as chris has said on his own blog that he finds some of the content hurtful, shouldn’t you consider taking the video down or at least editing it? saying that you didn’t mean to say “chris was pissed” is no excuse, because that it exactly what you said and that statement still stands as long as your video remains as is, along with all the goat shit comments that just show a lot of disrespect to chris’s line, a bit like (a lot like in fact) paul’s previous comments about DG’s “from dirt grows the flowers” being “turdy and dabby”. bella luna looks like a great line, and half the boulder problems in europe are in settings not entirely dissimiliar to that…
fred
Carlo you should apologize Chris in public. It doens’t matter wheter you meant to hurt him or not. The point is Chris was hurt…
yeah i don’t know when i watched this video i didn’t even think about the chris alex downgrade nonsense. i just took it as a funny video because we all know that everyone loves the flash. i think the fact that all these random people feel they can tell you something about your intentions and your life is pretty funny, almost pathetic.
Great video, THE SECOND PART. Great flash attempt, world quality bouldery.
But the first part was unnecessary and disrespectful, as Chris says is only a character assassination. Apologize him.
is it true that you are pissed because alex puccio has left you and is now happy together with chris? man, take it easy and stop talking shit
you nailed it right on the head there buddy. good work.
How can you call yourself a professional climber? You wouldnt believe how much respect you have lost by being so immature, at least from everyone i know…
I’m not really sure how creating an innocently humorous video pertains to calling myself a professional climber, but I guess we are each entitled to our own opinions. It was nice meeting you in Swiss. See you around…
The best climbing joke ever!! There are nothing wrong with this video, cool that you made.
Keep it up in climbing, congrats to the Game
thought this video was hiarious and good humoured with good intensions and banta within the professional climbing circuit. keep up the good work carlo.
